American bakeries range from wholesale operations that supply restaurants to neighborhood shops that sell bread, pastries, cookies and cakes over the counter, and many of them also pour coffee. Bagel shops boil and bake on site and sell out of favorite flavors by late morning; donut shops open before dawn and are often family-run; patisseries and cake studios take custom orders for weddings and birthdays and usually need one to two weeks' notice. Ice cream parlors, gelato shops and frozen yogurt bars are seasonal in the northern states and year-round in the South and on the West Coast. Philadelphia is in Pennsylvania, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. Getting around Philadelphia is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across Pennsylvania's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

First time coming here– so many flavors to choose from! I ultimately got half black sesame mango and hibiscus honey with a sea salt whipped cream on top. Perfect balance between sweet and a bit of salty!

I first discovered Weckerly's in Fishtown. You guys make great, high quality ice cream with original flavors. Tonight I popped in and bought a cone with two scoops. I didn't think to look at the prices, but I wish I had. I know that everything costs money from ingredients to overhead and staff. I don't expect your ice cream to be cheap or for you to underprice your products. I just don't know when it is that 2 scoops of ice cream in a cone became nearly $12. Not just here, but at nearly every independent ice cream shop. Why does a scoop and a cone now cost more than an entire pint? I don't have children of my own, but I couldn't imagine treating my niece and nephew to ice cream and spending $20 to $30+ on a few scoops of ice cream and a couple of cones. Ice cream used to be a treat for the whole family and now it's practically a luxury item. With prices like these, I could buy a meal instead. Do the prices truly need to be this high?

This is the ice cream place you go to if you want something new, unconventional, artisanal. You can tell that the ice cream is well-made/intentional and high-quality. I got the cookie dough ice cream, which was the only β€œtraditional” flavor, and it contained many large pieces of cookie dough, so it did its name justice. They had a variety of flavors and consistencies like sorbet and soft serve, as well as hand scooped. I think my only suggestion would be to have more options that didn’t include fruits/nuts but that is a personal preference.

I love Weckerly’s! Why? Take a gander at the ice cream tubs and note the spectrum of fine pastel colors, evidence of careful natural flavoring, of commitment. I could list all the beguiling flavors for quite some time, but I will spare you and just say this: Bring your appetite.

Wonderful stop for delicious desserts! The flavors are plentiful with options to please all. Gluten Free options were clearly marked as were other allergen ingredients. The creamy silky smooth texture blended with exciting flavors made it hard to make a decision. I had the Spicy Coffee with walnuts which was very pleasing to the plate. Samples are available to help you make your choice. Looking forward to visiting again for another taste of Weckerly’s. PS: my daughter included their ice cream sandwiches as part of her wedding desserts two years ago and they were a complete success!
